March 13 - December 1 - Murray's Mill Now Open for Season - Set among picturesque rolling hills are the 1913 mill, 1890 general store, 1890 wheat house, and the 1935 John Murray House and Lloyd Murray House. The mill operates at the Harvest Folk Festival in September using the original grindstones. The Mill is open Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday 1:30pm-4:30pm. Starting May 28, the Mill will be open Thursday through Sunday. Admission to the Mill is free, guided tours are available for $3.00 per person. www.catawbahistory.org

"Miracle of Hickory" Exhibits - The Hickory History Center currently is displaying two new exhibits. The main exhibit, "The Miracle of Hickory: The 1944 Emergency Polio Hospital," details the epidemic, building of the Emergency Hospital, and caring for the patients.  Another, "The Heart of the Healing," tells the story of those who served so selflessly in the fight against polio in the Emergency Hospital.
