Blue Ridge National Heritage Area +

195 Hemphill Knob Rd.

Asheville, NC 28803

(828) 298-5330

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area comprises the 25 westernmost counties in North Carolina, 11,000 square miles of scenic beauty among some of the oldest mountains in the world.

The Blue Ridge Parkway serves as something of a “Main Street” through the region, and visitors can access many quaint small towns, music venues, craft galleries, quilt trails and more from the Parkway.

Wherever you travel in the mountains and foothills of North Carolina, be on the lookout for authentic southern Appalachian cultural experiences—from the 10,000 year old heritage of the Cherokee to the music born and bred in these mountains; from the finest of crafts brought into contemporary expression from old traditions to the tastiest foods, wines and craft beers cultivated on local farms and created in our area’s many wineries and breweries—it’s a place unlike anywhere else on Earth.

In fact, this region is so special it has been designated a National Heritage Area because of its importance to the history and culture of our country. We invite you to discover and enjoy this distinctive American heritage, on and off the Blue Ridge Parkway!
