Horn in the West Outdoor Drama +

591 Horn in the West Dr.

Boone, NC 28607

(828) 264-2120

The Nation’s Oldest Revolutionary War Outdoor Drama

Dr. Kermit Hunter’s Horn in the West, one of the nation’s oldest Revolutionary War dramas, portrays the lives of pioneers who braved the wilderness to settle in the Blue Ridge Mountains seeking freedom from British tyranny. The shared adversity among the settlers brought together a community that forged the future of a nation.  Journey with us to the past and share their struggle, joy, and pain.  Thrill to the American adventure that still inspires the world when the settlers answered the Horn of Freedom.

Nestled into the hillside lies a theatre inspired by ancient Greece. Built in 1952, the Daniel Boone Amphitheatre uses natural elements from the surrounding area, carefully constructed to not disturb the beauty of the region. As the twilight fades, modern audiences are transported back more than 230 years to the North American frontier. The cast of fifty plus highland characters take the stage and present the history and dreams of our forefathers through drama, dance, and music in Horn in the West.
