The Crozet Tunnel Greenway – the Coolest Hike in Virginia – offers a unique opportunity for visitors to visit both sides of the much-visited Blue Ridge Mountains at Rockfish Gap in Central Virginia. The tunnel and trails are part of a regional greenway system. The trail is for hikers and cyclists of every level, watchable wildlife lovers, history enthusiasts, and railroad/engineering buffs.  A hike through the tunnel is about a mile long, and those who enter must bring flashlights or headlamps!

In nearby Waynesboro, Ridgeview Park and South River Greenway offers views and the only urban inland fishery in Virginia, along the mile-long trail. While in this historic Virginia Main Street Downtown, enjoy the Russell or Heritage Museum, the mural trail or the historic districts that make Waynesboro a special place to live and visit.

End the day on any of Nelson County’s craft beverage trails: The Brew Ridge Trail, Nelson 151, and Nelson 29, the county’s newest craft beverage producer trail. Nelson’s famed trails include four breweries, three cideries, nine wineries, three distilleries and a meadery. Each craft beverage producer showcases its own unique setting and award winning beverages, with special events on weekends, music and food options.
