Camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Camping along the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the best ways to get the full Parkway experience. You can pitch a tent under the stars, park your RV lakeside, or reserve a site ahead of your drive. Enjoy easy access to hiking, scenic overlooks, and peaceful relaxation when you stay at one of the Parkway’s eight official campgrounds. If Parkway campgrounds are closed or full, explore nearby privately owned campgrounds that are open year-round – many with full RV hookups and amenities. Crackling campfires, fresh mountain air, and starlit skies make every night memorable. Pick the perfect campsite for your trip, practice Leave No Trace, and immerse yourself in nature on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Parkway Campground Operations & Planning
The Parkway’s eight campgrounds are open seasonally, typically from early May through late October. Each offers restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables, and grills. The Mount Pisgah Campground and Julian Price Campground offer showers. Fees are charged on a per night basis, which includes two adults over age 18. Children accompanied by an adult camp free. Pets are welcome, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and attended at all times. No hookups (electric, water, sewer) are available at any Parkway campground. Advance reservations are highly recommended, especially during the busy summer and fall color seasons. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov.
